I recognize my work as being centered on loss or loss of comfort. In dealing with these feelings I have found that I use obsessive systems and rituals as coping mechanisms. My work ultimately brings me full circle in that I am responding to the many issues that come up in a woman's life: marriage, motherhood, family, illness, menopause, and a thousand other issues that surface in the course of a woman's life cycle. How one deals with things that turn up is different for each of us. My answer is the same in all phases of my life, and that is to make art that deals with trying to find comfort in an uncomfortable world.

The inspiration for the following series of collages came
from an old book I discovered at my mom's house entitled
"Patsy Carroll's Stories for Girls". It was written in 1935 by
Grace Gordon, and the pages are what hold the work
together...literally.
